New Caledonia is a French overseas territory, and it is a member of the franc zone. The banknotes for such territories are issued by the French State Overseas Emission Institute, established in 1967. It issued the CFP franc (Colonies Francaises du Pacifique) for such territories, which is divided into 100 centimes.
