Norwegian kroner was introduced in 1875 when Norway was about to enter the Scandinavian Monetary Union. Before that silver specidaler was a legal tender as well as swedish and danish currencies. The kroner is a freely convertible currency nowadays. 1 kroner equals 100 ore.
