The sudanese pound was introduced in 1957 to replace the formerly used egyptian pounds. Sudan had quitted the sterling zone in 1962. 1 sudanese pound equals 100 piastres or 1000 milliemes. In 1992 a new currency unit, the dinar, was introduced. I dinar is equal to 10 pounds.
