Tajikistan was the last republic of the former Soviet Union to introduce it's own currency - rubl (1994). 1 rubl equals 100 kopecks, coins have never been issued due to hard inflation. Banknotes design was merely borrowed from the USSR roubles. In year 2001 the new tajik currency - the somoni - was introduced, at 1:1000 ratio. 1 somoni equals 100 dirams.
