Since 1978 the comores franc has a fixed exchange rate against the french franc. In 1981 the Central Bank of Comores Islands has gained the functions of the former Emission Institute of the Comores which was located in Paris and had control over the monetary emission in Madagascar and Comores. 1 franc equals 100 santimes.
