The finnish markka was introduced in 1860 instead of formerly used russian rouble. The modern markka appeared in 1963 when a monetary reform was held, and new markka was exchanged for 100 old ones. 1 finnish markka equals 100 pennia. In 2002 Finland introduced the euro.
